John Moran

John Moran brings decades of experience helping organizations communicate clearly, protect and strengthen their reputations, and connect with the audiences that matter most.

He founded Moran Communications in 2026 to provide senior-level strategic communications counsel to banks, financial services companies and B2B businesses.

Most recently, John served as Senior Vice President, Integrated Communications at First Citizens Bank. His work included strategic external and internal communications programs supporting corporate issues and commercial banking businesses, as well as communications strategies for product announcements, financing transactions, thought leadership, research and executive speaking opportunities.

Previously, John held senior external communications roles at CIT and Assurant and spent more than a decade in corporate public relations at United Technologies. His experience includes media relations, financial communications, executive communications, crisis communications, agency management and enterprise-wide communications leadership.

Before entering corporate communications, John spent 18 years as a business reporter at The Hartford Courant, covering technology, manufacturing, venture capital, economics and commerce, as well as government. He also served as an adjunct professor at Quinnipiac University.

This combination of journalism and corporate communications experience gives John a distinctive perspective: he understands both how organizations need to communicate and how journalists and other audiences evaluate information.
